Let me begin with — I am a disastrously picky person and not much meets my impossible standards. With this awareness in mind, I, many months out, set my foot to the path of finding a photographer with an extreme array skills — one that would meet my outlandish requirements.

I wanted a photographer that understood the significance of story, that had an aesthetic eye for both the breadth and depth of a moment, someone that didn’t just this see this as a vocation but rather, an obsessive passion. Though, my vanity desired beautiful photos, I required more than just that — I wanted intimacy, intensity, and most importantly, I was determined to find a photographer that knew how to capture authenticity in every frame. Over the course of my search, I was met with much disappointment, that is, until I found Gabe. After viewing his Instagram account, my cynical ways became conditionally optimistic. Perhaps I was just seeing his best work? Maybe I wouldn’t feel comfortable being photoed by him? Maybe he’d be hard to work with? Though it was clear that Gabe had a busy schedule, he quickly responded to my message. We proceeded to arrange a mutual interview so as to gauge whether or not this was a good coupling. Over the course of the interview, it became very apparent that Gabe was just as selective as I was — my skepticism decreased. From that point, we planned a destination engagement shoot that, because of unpredictable calamities, we had to push out a day. Gabe was incredibly understanding and determined to make it work. After hours of shooting in the snowy forests of Canada, my husband and I both concluded the same thing — we nailed it. This was the EXACT person we had been hoping for. I say ‘person’ because, as it turns out, Gabe isn’t just an excellent photographer but an incredibly kind and patient person — possessing the traits one would look for in a friend. He made us both laugh and added much joy to what could have been an uncomfortable experience for a rather conservative couple. Over the course of our initial shoot, we learned that he not only took some of the most incredible photos we’ve ever seen but he also traveled the world to lectured ambitious photographers on techniques to build out their skillsets. On the day of our wedding, he basically turned into a ninja. When I received our incredible photos back, I kept wondering how he was in so many places so quickly… so discretely!? It goes without saying, I have been impressed with every point of Gabe’s skillful execution — the photos are perfect and my impossible standards were exceeded. A superber photographer, person, and friend — it is the luck of a lifetime to work with Gabe.

We've long admired Gabe's incredible work and so when we saw that he was coming to Edinburgh to run a workshop for photographers, we knew that we had to attend, as we are also elopement photographers. We also felt it would be an amazing opportunity to get some photographs of our own taken and so booked a Connection Session. We spent an evening climbing hills, exploring ruins, flower meadows and chasing sunset. We felt so relaxed being with Gabe and enjoyed our time together. He gave us prompts so we knew what to do, and he made us look incredible.

We received our full gallery today and we were blown away! We are SO happy with how the photographs turned out and we'll treasure these images forever. We will definitely be printing lots of them and putting together an album.
