About

Katie is a wedding photographer based in the Cowichan Valley and Greater Victoria Area (willing to travel to various locations on Vancouver Island) As a wedding photographer, she captures love stories each unique and all their own. It's nice to be able to connect with her couples and share in their special memories. Photography has always been a passion of hers and although she graduated from the Graphic Design program at Durham College, she continued to educate herself and branch out into the world of photography. She began her photography business over 10 years ago and each year she continues to learn and grow her business to what it is today.

Friendly and professional!

Katie was amazing the whole wedding planning process. She was one of the first vendors we picked for our big day. She was always punctual, informative and had a keen eye for details (which I absolutely loved especially for our big day!). We had Katie take out engagement photos and capture our big day. I'm so happy we did. On our wedding day (December 29th) it was cold and rainy. The photos she's given as a sneak peek so far are gorgeous! She didn't capture the cold and rain, she captured our love and happiness instead. I can't wait to work with Katie again for our future life events!!

Fairytale Photos

Katie was absolutely fantastic! Incredibly friendly and incredibly talented. She did our engagement photos and our wedding photos and we are thrilled with all of it. She was super easy to get in contact with and very organized. I am a career photographer myself, and was super picky about who I would hire as a result. I had never met Katie before, but right from the start it was so easy to be confident in her ability to capture our wedding! She was super easy to get in touch with, and had a bunch of tips for us for the planning process. Our parents, siblings, and bridal party all only had great things to say about her.
Personality, professionalism, photo quality, style, everything about her is great!

2018 Wedding

My husband and I worked with Katie for both our engagement photos, and our wedding photos and I can honestly say she blew us away both times ! Katie is a fabulous photographer with a great eye ! She is very personable and sweet, and is super accommodating. I am so glad we went with our gut and booked her for our special day ! We couldn’t be happier with the images we recieved. If you are looking for a talented, creative, professional, gifted, and dedicated photographer, then Katie Thompson is the photographer for you! Katie has been our family photographer for a few years and has recently captured beautiful memories from our wedding day. Not only are her pictures beautiful but Katie also has an incredible vision whereby her creativity and her passion for photography provided us with stunning photos (and memories)! So much more than a photographer!

Katie was a delight to work with. She went above and beyond to help me source an amazing hair and makeup service for my wedding and was incredibly helpful during my planning phase and on the day of! I will cherish the moments she caught on film.

Such an Amazing Photographer

Katie is amazing. Her photography is so beautiful, light and airy. She captured some beautiful photos during our engagement session and our wedding. She made us feel comfortable and beautiful on our wedding day!
We can't wait to have Katie take our maternity and newborn photos this year too!
Anytime we will be taking family photos, we will think of Katie right away!

Overall Wonderful Experience

We worked with Katie both for our engagement photos and on our wedding day. Katie was wonderful to work with from the very beginning. She was clear with pricing and timelines from the start, there were no surprises. During the planning process and after the wedding Katie was always quick to reply to email and was very helpful. She went above and beyond and also helped plan the day of timeline as well as provided her advice. She was fun to work with and is very professional. We had so much fun taking photos with her despite being nervous and shy in front of the camera. All our photos are incredible!! She captured every single moment of our day and from various angles. We are so happy that we choose K.Thompson photography and have had many compliments on our photos as well as guests interaction with her at the wedding. You will not be disappointed.

Katie is the lead photographer and owner of K. Thompson Photography. She has 15+ years experience as a wedding and lifestyle photographer. She was born and raised in Ontario, Canada where she began her photographer business, photographing over 100+ weddings and having her work featured in local and national magazines across Canada. In 2021, she and her husband moved their young family to Vancouver Island to start a new chapter of their lives. She continues to deliver beautiful weddings and professional service to all her clients here on Vancouver Island.
