Choosing a great photographer was a huge priority for us, it’s not easy sifting through reviews and portfolios online, but luckily Rick was recommended to us by a family member who had worked with him before. BEST DECISION EVER! We couldn’t have asked for a better photo/video team with Rick and Cheryl. They were professional but also super laid back and fun, were all over the place - from scaling cliffs to lying in the dirt - just to get the perfect shot, and also put in one heck of a long day. If I could book Rick to follow me around and document my entire life, I would. Not only does he see beauty in every moment, he sees it in a way nobody else can. What can I say that hasn't already been said about photographer Rick Collins? He did exactly what he said he would do - he showed up early and stayed late and was charming and warm and wonderful. He had a calming presence on me and my family in our scramble to get ready. He was everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. A real ninja. And all of our guests said the same thing: who is that great guy? Certainly he captured all of the usual moments, but when we saw our pictures we were blown away at the amount of beautiful unexpected photographs he got including a lot of things we didn't even see on the day. I guess the biggest compliment is the reaction we get to our books and prints now from friends and family. Everyone comments on how unique the work is and how they wish they had found him before we did. Rick is a master storyteller and everything you need in a photographer. Don't hesitate. Hire him before someone else does.

Rick is an artist, he captured the positive energy and love of our wedding day in an absolutely stunning manner. I didn't want the typical awkwardly posed wedding day shots, or the mass amount of photo editing and retouching. Rick is pure talent and doesn't rely on gimmicks, he captured so many candid shots in a stunning manner, and brought out the beauty and raw emotions of all my loved ones in his photographs. He kept me calm on my wedding day, never got in the way of things, he was literally like a ninja the way he moved around the crowd sneakingly taking photographs…. and he made sure we stayed on track and got me to the alter on time :) For our portraits, he would capture the natural beauty that was surrounding him but yet still make us as a couple shine. At the end of the wedding day you realize how quickly things go by and all the moments that you might not remember. Our wedding album tells our story and captured the entire day, which to me is priceless. Not only is Rick a pro but he is also a genuine spirit. Hire this man, you will not be disappointed.

Originally our budget was priced lower for photography, but after looking at his work (I strongly urge those that are reading this review to visit his website and blog) and reading reviews we had to have him. Rick even generously gave us a leather-bound book from Italy, free of charge. He came early, stayed late and documented the details and essence of our day. I have been married for 4 years now, and looking at his pictures now I still so easily feel and remember the raw emotion of the day. He was a pleasure to work with.
Recently, I was in another wedding party where Rick was the photographer and again I was highly impressed. He has a sense of humour (which everyone needs an amount of on their wedding day), is very professional and captures amazing, detailed, beautiful photos!

Rick captured so many special moments during two very special days - our wedding ceremony in a remote town on Vancouver island and then our backyard wedding reception in West Vancouver. Rick and his wife joined us a day before the ceremony to explore and capture some beautiful shots. We absolutely love the pictures. They were both a pleasure to spend time with and extremely professional.

My husband and I generally don't like getting our pictures taken, so we wanted to stay away from poses and capture the moments. He did just that and got some stunning natural shots.

Rick worked with our schedule to meet in advance and stayed connected by email / phone leading up to the day. He showed up to both venues prior the events to plan out the best angles and lighting. During the events Rick provided guidance to family and friends, when needed, which was much appreciated to keep things moving and get the best shots. He was always non-intrusive and checked in periodically to see if there's anything special we wanted. He also told us what time / location would make for the best shots and then pulled us away when it was time. He was quick and provided sufficient direction, still allowing us to enjoy the moment.

I would highly recommend Rick Collins photography! I look forward to working with Rick on our next special occasion.

Rick was an amazing vendor to work with. Our friends recommended him and when we saw their photos I knew right away that he was the right choice for us. I found it really easy to get in touch with Rick and correspond with him before, during and after the wedding even when we were living in different cities. I really appreciated that Rick took time out of his vacation when he was in our city so we could meet and plan the logistics of the wedding day together.

On the day Rick was so laid back and really captured every moment from morning to night. I felt like he wanted to blend into the background to make us all feel at ease.

Rick and his wife Cheryl were amazing! Their photos and super 8 film were exactly what we asked for and wanted. I wanted photos that I could frame as art and not just hide in a picture album under my bed and that's what we got. Our wedding pictures are absolutely beautiful. So many of our friends have said how they regret the multiple cheesy, kissing and posed pictures from their big day. Rick and Cheryl gave us art!
