Holy moly! We are SO happy with our wedding photos and how they turned out! Sky was so patient and accommodating with us trying to plan our wedding during the pandemic. We had cancellation, after cancellation and she just kept on rolling with our modified plans, no problems. I cant thank her enough for making the drive all the way out to British Columbia for a last minute final change of plans for our wedding. We got the most gorgeous photos back and I can't thank her enough for the memories she's created for us! Thank you Sky!! -

I hired Sky for my wedding before the pandemic and unfortunately I had a terrible experience with her. We received awkward pictures of us (bride and groom) and the majority of the pictures were mostly of the scenery with us very tiny in the picture. I had sent her a list (which she said I did not need to) of certain poses and who I wanted to get pictures with. Afterwards she told me that I should have reminded her of which pictures to take (on the day of the wedding!) I'm saddened that I did not get any pictures that we requested and the ones that we did get were with awkward poses. I'm missing some vital pictures such as bride and groom solos and there are none classic poses, etc. Sky takes months to communicate back via email which was difficult when I was trying to plan my wedding. When I expressed my opinions afterwards, she gave me an option of doing 40 re-edits, which was done in under an hour - it seemed like she just selected the auto feature for them all seeing how quick it was done and that she just wanted to get it over with and then re-edits we got were not done well. I also was not impressed on the fact she could not photoshop certain things out of my photos when asked. A quality photographer would be able to photostop anything and Sky was not able to do that. I'm disheartened that I'm unable to look back at the biggest day of my life, my wedding day, with pictures that I can cherish. I would not recommend Sky unless you are looking for landscape scenery type pictures. I do have to add that since I expressed that to her, I have noticed she started doing more closeups..which I had none of.SkyBluePhotography's reply:
I don’t usually reply to reviews as there is always two sides to a story and in most cases each person feels they have justification for their feelings and that is perfectly fine. However, in this specific situation there are a few things I would like to point out, as it is now almost 2 years past Rochelles wedding date (June 9th, 2019) and I am still receiving untruthful statements and unpleasant comments.
Firstly, regarding the photography list of certain poses this list was not disregarded nor was it specifically not asked for, all that was said was “you can send me a list, but I usually go by the locations and some styles work in some locations and others don’t, send me inspirational pictures that you have in mind and I need a list of family pictures you would like”. I had also received an instagram message from Rochelle dated June 11th, 2019 (two days after her wedding) that read “I was so worried about timing that I think I shoo’d people away and I really would have loved pictures with them. I don’t know if I got enough of specific people and it makes me sad thinking that it went by so fast and I didn’t focus on things that mattered”. Rochelle received 630 edited and re-edited images which is well over what a typical 11 hour wedding receives. Secondly, editing takes time whether it is for weddings, family sessions, engagement sessions, newborn sessions or corporate sessions. Every single one of my sessions is important to me from the day of the session to the countless hours of editing. I think it goes without saying that editing is never done in under an hour, and there is no auto-edit feature in professional editing software. After the re-edited photos were delivered, I had received an email from Rochelle stating that they really liked the edits, so I’m surprised to now hear that she does not like them.
Thirdly, The longest Rochelle had gone without a reply was 7 days as I was in Bali, Indonesia photographing a 3 week elopement with very limited cell + internet service, this was mentioned to the client numerous times in various different forms of communication.
Lastly, the reason why Rochelle only had the option of 50 re-edits (not 40) is purely a result of how rudely I was spoken to about the pictures she had initially received. Yes, I have a business and yes in most cases the customer is right, however, I stand strong in the belief that no one should ever be spoken down to or made to feel inferior and I will tell my clients and potential clients that there should be a level of mutual respect when it comes to a client/business owner relationship. Clients have a right to refuse services, but business owners also have a right to refuse clients. Especially ones of an abusive nature. Statements that had been made by Rochelle in previous emails were clearly not needed and the issue could have been resolved civilly and maturely.
There are numerous other things that I could mention in this response, however I am not going to get into petty details and pointless back and fourths. Potential clients can decide whether or not my photographs speak for themselves along with the countless 5 star reviews I have received from my past clients. I also take close-up pictures and have always done that (not just because Rochelle mentioned it) and you can take a look for yourself on my instagram page @sky.bluephotography

Exceptionally talented! BOOK HER
My husband and I hired Sky to cover our wedding and our engagement photos. We are both very outdoorsy and were thrilled that her and her husband were willing to join us at 3AM to climb up to a mountain ridge to take engagement photos.
Sky was very attentive to our wishes. She works hard to capture the moments that count, and she has a very unique and creative eye. Highly recommend. -

Kendyll Sent on 09/11/2017Sky was a wonderful addition to our wedding day. She got us to do a variety of activities and poses and the photos turned out great. The weather was less than cooperative but Sky toughed it out and we got some amazing pictures in the rain. Loved the photos and cant say enough good things about her flexibility and great ideas. -

I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a good wedding photographer. Sky was such a delight to be around and made us feel at ease through the whole photo process.
Sky went to our wedding site ahead of time to pick out locations for photos. She really went above and beyond to create a variety of photos. One of my favourites was one we took while it was dark out. She created smoke in the background and we had only a little light showing from the street lamp. It turned out perfectly!!
Sky is beyond creative! Anyone going with her will not be disappointed -

We had the pleasure of first meeting Sky during our engagement photo shoot, approximately 9 months prior to our wedding. As someone who is a bit camera-shy, I was quickly put at ease. Sky provided great direction during this initial shoot- something which I requested. I was unsure of what exactly I wanted- I had a few suggestions for poses and locations, but Sky, being the amazing professional she is, was phenomenal in the way she gently directed both my (then fiance) and I into gorgeous, effortless, natural-appearing photographs. I treasure these photographs to this day. During the time leading up to our wedding, we were intermittently in communication with Sky. I provided samples of photos that I wished to try during the Big day (including styles, poses, etc). We also requested some advice on different scenic locations in the Canmore area. When the day finally came, Sky incorporated our requests and suggestions with her great artistry and presented us with the greatest gift of all- incredible moments captured on film. I love how exceptionally romantic and elegant the photographs appear. When I see them, I am taken back to that most special time. During the shoots, again, it did not feel that anything was forced or awkward. It felt natural. Sky's approach made me, as well as my husband and entire wedding party so comfortable. Many of my family members, friends, etc remarked at how professional, kind and personable Sky was. Upon seeing our finished photographs, we have received numerous compliments on how gorgeous our wedding photos are. My husband and I are beyond satisfied with SkyBlue Photography. We thank Sky for giving us her time, hard work, incredible skills and artistry and in the end, the photographs we will always treasure. -
