Peace of Mind
Th biggest thing my husband and I were looking for in our wedding planner was peace of mind. Neither of us knew anything about planning a wedding nor did we have the time/patience to chase down vendors. After interviewing a few planners, we settled on Amanda a she was so organized and had the best energy!
Throughout the planning process, Amanda was there for us every step of the way to answer question, check in, calm fears, give gold stars ;), just anything we needed.
When the day of came, she was on top of everything and we didn't have to worry about a single thing! it was exactly what we wanted and she helped us realize our dream wedding.Th biggest thing my husband and I were looking for in our wedding planner was peace of mind. Neither of us knew anything about planning a wedding nor did we have the time/patience to chase down vendors. After interviewing a few planners, we settled on Amanda a she was so organized and had the best energy!
Throughout the planning process, Amanda was there for us every step of the way to answer question, check in, calm fears, give gold stars ;), just anything we needed.
When the day of came, she was on top of everything and we didn't have to worry about a single thing! it was exactly what we wanted and she helped us realize our dream wedding. -

Our experience with Amanda
We had originally hired Amanda 2 years before our wedding, I was so excited to have Amanda because I had followed her for years on Instagram and for many years I dreamt of having her as our planner… Things definitely seemed better on social medial than in real life. At first when we hired her things were great but as time went on they got worse and worse. Every time we turned around she just wanted more and more money. As we went on with planning our wedding, we told Amanda we didn’t want anything extra and she tricked us into having a flower meeting and charged us an extra percentage on what she was already charging us, we were super upset after we told her we didn’t want anything extra because her bill was getting out of hand. After that we ultimately decided to let her go as our wedding planner and we hired somebody else and thank god we did. Our new planner ultimately saved the day and our wedding was everything we ever dreamed of. Surprised to hear from you; I hope you had a wonderful wedding day (you looked lovely in your dress backstage - saw online)! I was thinking about you the other day as your date was approaching :)
I’m SO happy to hear that you found a Planner that was a better fit for you. After many months working together — and making big progress in your planning — we respected your choice to terminate your contract, however, this review is a surprise.
Even more so now seeing that you weren’t truthful in your reasonings for termination (image below). We understand that the truth can be hard, but an email directly, instead of half truths online (here) would have been a mature and professional approach. I’m disappointed.
I’m sad that weeks after your wedding, after a year of not working with us — and Amanda Douglas Events not being a part of your planning or wedding in any way — you have chosen to come back and leave this review.
To be clear, you were never charged “extra” (see images below). You paid your booking fee, the next payment, and a partial of the third payment (our terms are clear that “payment is for services rendered”. When you cancelled you ended up with a partial payment due at that time, which was explained and agreed upon). I’m happy to email you your invoices again to add to any closure you’re seeking; it can be hard to keep track.
We did our very best via your contract, Info Package/s, Client Portal, budget review meetings, How-To videos, and all other meetings to explain to you how our process, payment structure and, fees work (images below).
Additionally, the option to move down to Wedding Management which we both discussed and you were quoted on (instead of the package you booked) was always there, and you opted not to do that.
Our Full Planning Package is a base merge percentage (contract screenshot below). We let you know that you may go over the base and have a balance (contract screenshot below) and advised you on options: what you could do, not do, not have us do, as we knew that staying close to our base - for budget sake - was very important to you.
We did our best to explain this to you directly, Lucas directly, and again continued to encourage you to both attend meetings as it was clear things were not being understood between you.
Again, I’m sorry to see that after a year of not working together — Amanda Douglas Events not being a part of your wedding in any way — you decided to come back and leave this review. Our communication and contracts are both clear and transparent; that’s important to us, and we did that each step of the way for and with you.

Amanda & her team are amazing. With very short notice, they were able to help get things organized for us and get things on track. On the day of the event, they went over and beyond. They knew exactly what I wanted, they augmented the decor and made sure everything went smoothly, we had so much fun! We are so happy and grateful.Amanda & her team are amazing. Amanda is amazing!!!
We cannot say enough amazing things about Amanda Douglas Events! Amanda was spectacular as our Day-Of Wedding Coordinator, and we feel so fortunate to have had her by our side on the big day.
Amanda is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and organized, and her attention to detail is absolutely incredible!! Amanda was so helpful during our pre-wedding meetings, and was quick to answer any questions and provide valuable guidance as we planned our Winnipeg wedding from Calgary. When it came to the rehearsal and wedding day coordination, Amanda went above and beyond to ensure things ran smoothly. She also did such a fantastic job setting up our personal decor and coordinating all of our vendors. We have had family and friends repeatedly tell us how blown away they were by Amanda's professionalism and helpfulness throughout every aspect of our rehearsal and wedding day.
We cannot begin to imagine what we would have done without Amanda, and we will forever be singing her praises!We cannot say enough amazing things about Amanda Douglas Events! Amanda did an amazing job on our wedding! We had a limited budget and it didn’t scare her away, she was kind, helpful, full of ideas, and helped make our wedding the best it could be. We decided to hire Amanda Douglas to plan our wedding because neither of us had a clue about how to plan a wedding, we are terrible at planning, and we weren’t living in Winnipeg. Between her incredible organizational skills, serious knowledge of everything wedding related, helpful planning tools and lovely personality, it was the best decision we could have made!
Amanda made the entire process fun and took away so much of the stress that comes with wedding planning. Our meetings were always a great balance of planning and fun (lots of laughs and bonding over our mutual love of dogs!). She is super easy to get along with, and it felt like she always had our back as she liaised with all the vendors and took care of all the little details that we would never have thought of. She kept us on track by sending us friendly reminders and to-do lists to get tasks done (much appreciated because we are such procrastinators!). She was available to answer all of our questions along the way (no matter how silly!), listened to all of our ideas and then helped bring them to life.
On the day of our wedding, having Amanda and Danielle there was completely invaluable - coordinating with all of the vendors, keeping everything on schedule, setting up the venue – they kept everything running smoothly. We worked with Amanda for day of coordination for our wedding at the end of August only a couple weeks ago. Amanda herself was already scheduled for another couple's wedding the same day as ours, so on the actual day we had one of her other coordinators and an assistant, Heather and Danielle.
The meetings we had with Amanda through the process were a blast! We knew what we wanted out of the day, and her advice & skills kept us on track. And how can you not have fun when there's a visit from Ollie (Amanda's dog) during your meeting?
The rehearsal and wedding both went off without a hitch. Heather and Danielle were there to get us in gear when we needed it, and handle any issues. Heather also had a chance to bust out her emergency boutonniere skills when my dad's didn't make it to the ceremony.
Bottom line - if you're thinking of working with Amanda and her team, go for it! One of my bridesmaids commented post ceremony that I was incredibly relaxed while we were getting ready the morning of. I think working with Amanda Douglas Events was a big part of that since I could step out of planning finally and enjoy getting married.We worked with Amanda for day of coordination for our wedding at the end of August only a couple weeks ago.
