Based out of Richmond, British Columbia, Imagine That Event was founded with the inspiration to plan and create beautiful weddings. Owned by Sharon Liew and Laura Takasaki, the business has been in operation since 2002. They each hold a background in BCIT Marketing and in the tourism industry. With more than 12 years of experience working throughout the Lower Mainland, the duo prides itself on its ability to materialize a coupleโ€™s wedding dream to the last detail, and offers a host of wedding decor and wedding planning services. The team has also worked with various hotels, golf courses, and private banquet halls. Customizing wedding decor to fulfill a coupleโ€™s dream wedding look is something the business has been doing for years. The business is also a member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Richmond, and The Big Tsunami BNI Chapter.

A Beautiful Day

When we first started planning our wedding, we thought we'd just DIY the whole thing. But I'm so glad we reached out to Imagine That for help!

Sharon and her team have so much knowledge of the industry that they were able to make suggestions we would never have thought of, and they were also very reasonably priced. We went to Sharon with a vision, and she brought it to life better than we imagined.

They were so great about incorporating the decor we provided and were awesome about setting up and packing up according to our venue's timeline. It was such a relief to work with a team like this, and made everything about our big day that much easier - we could focus on our guests rather than making sure everything was in the right place.

Bonus points for the beautiful handlettered seating chart and the vintage-looking lawn games!

Excellent results, process could've been smoother

The set up of the decorations and hanging lights on our wedding day was perfect and they made our venue look absolutely beautiful. Imagine That Events was also very flexible with our ideas and setting up materials that we already owned. However, we felt they lost points with professionalism and responsiveness. They took over a week to reply to an email and didn't even reply to one email the week of the wedding. Additionally, they don't have a catalog of items which made planning with them more complicated since everything had to go back and forth over email and prices kept changing. We met with them twice because we felt it would be easier than emailing back and forth but then they tried to charge us a higher "set-up fee" which included time meeting with us. We feel that meeting should simply be part of customer service, especially if there is no catalog. When we asked them if they would have enough chair covers if we added more guests, they said yes no problem. Then, a few weeks before the wedding when we finalized numbers, they told us that they didn't even have enough for our initial head count so we ended up providing them with extra sashes. We felt that we were not prioritized as clients because our budget for decorations may have been lower than other weddings, but we would've appreciated better responsiveness and professionalism from them. In the end, they did reduce the set up fee upon request and the end result did look amazing, however we were hoping they would be more organized and professional throughout the planning process.

An absolute pleasure!

I wasnโ€™t planning on hiring a day of coordinator, but Iโ€™m glad I did! Laura is amazing and I couldnโ€™t imagine my big day without her. From our initial conversation, she understood exactly what I wanted and more. She brought our vision to life, made the day less stressful and was quick to accommodate unexpected last minute changes. Laura and her team were professional, friendly and organized. Laura is an absolute pleasure and youโ€™ll be well taken care of the moment you contact her.

Brought our vision to life, imagine that!

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Sharon and her team. She helped us bring our vision to life for our wedding in September. We loved the added touches and suggestions she provided for our wedding and were completely confident that everything would turn out beautifully an within our budget too! I would definitely recommend Imagine That Events for any wedding, event, or special occasion.

Fantastic Team!

We used Imagine That Events for our wedding in 2016: venue decorations, flowers (center pieces and boutonieres), and day of ceremony coordination. They did a fantastic job! - We wanted some specific fairy vine balls that they didn't have, but were able to find and source for us. We encountered a bit of a hiccup due to rain that started just before the ceremony but the team dealt with it all and found an alternative path for the wedding party so we wouldn't have to get wet while waiting to enter the room. We're very happy with their services!
