We attended my best friends wedding in the DR back in April 2016 which was done through Myweddingaway - we had such a good time and everything was done so well that we decided to go through Karen at Myweddingaway for our destination wedding as well. We got married at the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa on May 8th 2017 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Karen was an absolute pleasure to work with - which is crucial when your planning one of the most special days of your life. She was patient with all of our questions, and gave us her honest opinion throughout the process. She also did a great job of accommodating all of our guests who were coming from all over Canada, making separate arrangements for those who needed it - we had a total of 45 guests including ourselves. We provided Karen with our general ideas and she provided suggestions base on her extensive travel and destination wedding experience - we ended up getting more than we hoped for. The resort was beautiful, the service exceeded expectations, the food was delicious (and that's saying a lot coming from a family of foodies), the beach was perfect, and the size fit our guest count - it was exactly what we were looking for. We've been to quite a few southern destinations such as Mexico, the DR, Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, Aruba and Cuba to name a few, and I have to say this is one of the nicest resorts we've ever stayed at. Karen said she would do what she could to get us upgraded upon arrival, when we got there we started out in a Mountain View room and by the 2nd day they had moved us into a 2 bedroom Honeymoon Ocean View Suite with 2 balconies, 2 bathrooms, a whirlpool, a walk-in closet, fully stocked bar, 24hr room service and our own butler! We were blown away! It was great having the extra space for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready. Our wedding day was surreal - the resort went above an beyond with the decorations and service, the day flowed seamlessly, the photographer was great, food was perfect - we honestly wouldn't have changed a thing. Our wedding DVD and photos were done very well - which was a big relief as you don't always get to choose your photographer or videographer when going through a resort. Our guests are still talking about what amazing trip and wedding it was. We would HIGHLY recommend Myweddingaway if you're planning a destination wedding. They truly helped make our wedding a dream come true. We will be using them to plan our upcoming honeymoon as well! A BIG THANK YOU to Karen for making our entire experience one to remember.

I met Karen at a Destination Wedding event just a couple weeks after I got engaged. After sitting down with Karen for just a few minutes she immediately asked me about my fiance and I and how we were envisioning our wedding. She had great ideas of how to work within a budget as well as thinking outside the box to achieve everything I wanted for our big day. Instantly I felt taken care of and knew that she would be the person I wanted to help plan our wedding. Sean and I had been to one destination wedding a couple of years ago and loved it but that was all we had to compare it to. Initially we thought we could recreate something similar but we quickly realized that our needs were different, our group size was different and the budget we had wasn't going to work for that scenario. Karen worked tirelessly to not only find us the perfect resort for our guests at an amazing price point but also find the perfect resort for our dream wedding. She made several budgets that fit a couple of different resorts and we could really compare and see which resort was going to be the best fit for us. Karen was so patient with me and all of our guests and was there every step of the way. Even when we had some issues come up (that were not her fault at all) she was immediately reachable.

We ultimately decided on Azul Fives - it offered amazing food, a beautiful resort, a great price point for our guests, it's family friendly and they produce stunning weddings! Karen warned me that Karisma would try and "woo" me with all of their gorgeous add ons but told me that that as long as I was careful I could have my dream wedding within my budget. Not only was she right but we were able to have our dream wedding for about half the price of what we thought we would pay! Before meeting Karen I had never heard of the Karisma brand and now I'm totally converted! We not only had our wedding at Azul Fives but we honeymooned at El Dorado Casistas Royale! We absolutely loved both! Our guests kept commenting on how we couldn't have picked a more perfect setting for our wedding! I really owe it all to Karen, without her we would be stuck having our wedding inside of an ugly ballroom paying double the price! Time and time again I say that after saying "yes" to Sean, deciding to work with Karen was the best decision I made during the planning process! Working with Karen over 14 months felt more like working with a good friend who always has your back.

I booked my wedding away in 2019, scheduled for 2021 and of course with the pandemic it had to be changed. From start to finish Karen navigated myself and my whole 60 group booking through it amazingly. There was so much uncertainty and she did everything she could to make sure we were kept up to date with all changes with travel and our booking details.

As well as closer to the date, I was struggling to communicate with one of the wedding planners at the resort, Karen looked into it and helped me find resolution.

All in all it was a wild ride planning a wedding during a pandemic but Karen and her team bent over backwards to help me plan the wedding of my dreams.

It was truly a fantastic wedding in Costa Rica and went flawlessly. Thank you all endlessly !!!

Karen truly went above and beyond for my wedding group. I recognize that we were not an easy group to manage, our guests were spread across the country. She managed our group with apparent ease. When we had a major schedule change to our itinerary she was able to get the airline to provide all of my guests with a hotel in Montreal, as our departure city had also changed. I still don’t know how she managed it, but I can’t be more thankful. Because of Karen my husband and I were able to bring ALL of our friends and family together for the first time ever. It was an amazing experience and we have her to thank for it. She was always available to respond to our questions, and made choosing a resort and booking our wedding a breeze. I would HIGHLY recommend using Karen to book your wedding.

Karen was fantastic, she was very helpful in making my wedding planning easy and stress free. She was always available to call and made sure everything worked out the way I wanted/needed. She has a positive energy and is always there to help.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend My Wedding Away. Our wedding coordinator was unresponsive, made dozens of errors in processing our friends and family's itineraries, and added very little value to the wedding planning process. We went in largely not knowing how much our wedding would cost until we got to the destination. Furthermore, they offered very little experience in actually planning an international wedding which left us to scramble to figure out on our own the documents necessary to get legally married in Mexico. If I had the option, I would use another provider.

Karen was excellent in helping us book our destination wedding and answered our questions promptly. Karen was very organized and sent us a spreadsheet updating us on our guest list so we didn't have to worry about this! She also gave us a detailed consultation when we were still just in the "thinking" stage of our destination wedding and she helped us make up our minds about going on a cruise destination wedding! I would definitely recommend Karen and MyWeddingAway to others.

She provided us with all the information, was open and honest. She never tried to sell us anything but always gave great advice. My husband and I got married this past April in Jamaica at the Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf resort. The resort was beautiful and absolutely perfect! We and all of our 42 guests had a wonderful time! A few of our guests are already planning to return for their next family vacation! The resort was a family friendly resort that had many activities for all ages. The resort also has a water park with water slides and a lazy river that was an absolute blast! ALL of our guests (ranging from 3 months old to late 70's) had a lot of fun at the water park. The lifeguards were very personable and friendly but also on the ball and very professional. The beach was absolutely beautiful, very clean and finding a lounge chair was never a problem regardless of the time of day. The reef is in close proximity to the beach so if you enjoy snorkelling, be sure to grab a snorkel from the beach activities desk! You can also bring some bread or pieces of banana and feed the fishes. They will surround you within seconds....a really fun experience!

Our wedding day was perfect despite a few glitches from Mother Nature. Our ceremony was on the beach in a private area away from all the other guests and felt secluded which was very nice and security made sure no one wandered around that area during our ceremony. The plan was to have our private cocktail and dinner reception on the beach as well but given threats of rain and heavy rainfall earlier that day, we had to move that portion of the wedding inside. The inside venue was a simple banquet room. It was ok however I had my decor (center pieces, bombonieres, guest book, seating chart, etc.) to help dress it up. I also asked the wedding coordinator to put up the lights I had rented for the beach site inside and used my flowers from the ceremony on the head table which changed the feel of the room. In the end, the indoor venue was a blessing in disguise given the high humidity/ heat that day as the AC was very well received by all of our guests. The food was absolutely delicious as well!! The resort grounds have beautiful scenery from lavish gardens, palm trees, white sandy beach, and even a horse and carriage ride with a 'Just Married' sign! Needless to say we got a lot of beautiful pictures!!

The week felt like a week-long wedding celebration as the staff were very friendly and congratulated us on our nuptials throughout the week. We were lucky enough to get an amazing upgrade upon our arrival and were given a 2 bedroom suite with a large oceanfront balcony and 24 hour butler service. We also had a very romantic private dinner on the beach 24 hours after we got married (literally in the same spot where we said our 'I do's' and had our own private server!). A very memorable experience for our first dinner as newlyweds!

Karen was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was so patient and helpful throughout the entire planning and booking process! She took care of all the booking details for all of my wedding guests with ease making the process very easy for everyone. Her knowledge regarding the various resorts and options available to us was definitely an asset as narrowing down a resort for your big day can be an overwhelming process. I had a hard time narrowing down our wedding resort and Karen was so patient and helpful! Karen went the extra mile and was happy to offer ideas and tips to make my destination wedding absolutely perfect! Her service was excellent and I would strongly recommend 'My Wedding Away' to any brides looking to work with a professional, personable, genuine wedding specialist who truly has your best interest as her priority!
