I hired Shawna to provide Day of Wedding Coordination services for my wedding in Penticton this past September. I live overseas and wanted to ensure the person I worked with would make me feel comfortable on my big day. When Shawna and I first connected on the phone, I knew I had made the right choice.

A few weeks out from our wedding day, as she had promised over the phone, she was in touch to discuss the day of itinerary. I have an extremely Type A personality and thought I had covered all of my bases. Shawna talked through everything with me and by the time we were done I had a page of 'to-do's' that were very important pieces of the day that I would have completely missed if it wasn't for her.

I met Shawna two days before our wedding for our rehearsal, and again, she was so helpful during that process! I don't think I could have gotten through the actual day if it wasn't for her and her team ensuring everything ran smoothly. She helped with the set-up, coordinated with the vendor and the MC, ensured all valuables were given to a designated guest at the end of the night, plus much more! I had multiple friends and family comment throughout the night about how great she is - and I completely agree with them!

I have to start off by saying, if you are debating whether or not to hire a wedding coordinator - DO IT. I met Shawna a little later in our planning process - we had booked all of our vendors already and I was looking for some assistance with some unexpected things that were coming up and day-of coordination. She really took a massive stress off my plate, was able to source and negotiate better rates for services in several instances, and she made sure that our big day went perfectly. She is extremely prompt and responsive, very organized and made me feel like I was her only client (even though I know she's constantly juggling a million things). My husband and I were so grateful to have her running the show so that all we had to worry about was getting married and enjoying ourselves! I am a little sad that I won't be able to work with her again, but I can't recommend her enough for anyone who is getting married. Thank you Shawna for making our dream wedding come true :)

I had a great connection with Shawna from day one. Even though she has had a lot of clients, and I'm sure will have many more, I never felt like just another client on her roster; Shawna always treated me as though I was a friend, and made me feel like a priority.
Shawna really did a great job of learning who I was and was quick to sync with my vision which made it easy for her to make suggestions she knew I would love. Her knowledge of the industry and her ability to read people is really outstanding.
You think you know a lot about weddings, and you may be naïve enough to believe it'll be easy to do it all on your own (if you are a low maintenance bride with a *really incredible* team of bridesmaids, maybe it works out for you - congrats)... I promise this is not usually the case. Shawna was on top of reminding me to do things that she couldn't do for me, brought to light many things that I was unaware of, did a lot of my contacting and correspondence with my vendors, and even gave me peace of mind by verifying or explaining information in my vendor contracts. The little things/details that would have stressed me out, were just taken care of. Shawna really allowed me to just enjoy the planning process. Were there still things I had to deal with? Yes, but any of the stress that I felt through the process was people related - and I'm sure if Shawna could mitigate that, she would! A good example of something that might have been stressful was having our florist decide last minute - not dangerously so, but still out of the blue - that she didn't want to do weddings any more this year... Before Shawna even gave me the news she had already contacted another florist and had a quote and some images of our new potential's work to present me with. I had a pretty good attitude about the news, but I imagine I might have felt differently if I had been the one to get the news and made to work it out myself.
You can also be assured that your day of timeline will be followed to a T. Are you usually a tardy person?... Not today! Shawna will make sure that everyone is on time and on point that day.
If you've got a husband teetering on the edge of hiring a planner, or one that doesn't see the value I would suggest he talk to my husband so that he might be able to bring to light all the reasons that Shawna and the service she provides really are invaluable. When I look back on my wedding day, I am incredibly grateful for Shawna and her team and I feel blessed to have made a new friend in the process :)

In the beginning of the wedding planning process, I never thought I needed a wedding planner. However, going with Shawna from White Orchid Wedding was the best decision and investment we made for our wedding day! She was amazing with concepts, implementation and vendor suggestions all based on our taste! No matter how big or small the task, Shawna always delivers the best service to us :) She handled all of the details of the wedding that we did not want to, which really helped us to stay stress free on our big day.
