Meet the team
There is no "favourite camera" for Mahmood. He looks at what the scene needs and which camera can fulfill that need the best. Some of his favourites are the likes of Canon C300 Mk III, Ronin 4D, BMPCC 6K, and Sony FX6...if he can get my hands on them.
As for his favourite movie, he's still in the market. His ADHD and terrible memory prevent him from remembering the best films. Talk about living in the moment, eh? But he watched something today...Masaba S2E6... It's cinematic, dramatic, real, and best of all, it features his land, his people, and his language...#representationmatters
His favourite sport is Martial Arts like Karate, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai. These sports enable him to build discipline, mental fortitude, and physical endurance. But you wouldn't think that looking at him. Guess he's got a long way to go...
He aspires to be who he needs to be when he needs to be. No task is too small or too big. He always rises to the challenge and embraces failure as a stepping stone. He aspires to be a pathfinder.
Akeel's favourite camera is the one that he has on him at the time because the most important thing is to be able to capture THAT moment even if it's just on a phone camera.
His favourite genre of films is Jackie Chan movies but oddly enough his all-time favourite movie is Cool Runnings.
Something Akeel really enjoys doing is escaping into nature and taking time-lapses of the stars, northern lights and sunsets.
Akeel is the co-founder of Guava and some of the roles he takes on are: cinematographer, director, chief editor, colourist, and live vision mixer, but if condensed down his single role is the title popularized by Simon Sinek: CVO - Chief Visionary Officer.
